Ice Cream Sandwich [ ICS ] Gallery app for non-ICS Android devices

Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Gallery app for non-ICS Android devices

ICS Gallery

The release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was met with a lot of rave reviews, as a slew of new, exciting features were made available to the Android public. In the days following the release, an Ice Cream Sandwich statue was unveiled, fans rushed to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and phone manufacturers stumbled to dish out the latest Android mobile OS to previously released handsets.
But, the whole buzz has left several few out in the cold–those who, for one reason or another, will just have to miss out on the latest software update.   I’m talking about Android users who own mobile devices released a few years back. Although your phone manufacturer has forever condemned you to stay in the Android Stone Age, talented developers have come to your rescue by cooking up apps, hacks, and fixes that will let you get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Check out the Gallery ICS app. It takes the ICS stock gallery app to your Android device, no matter what version of Android OS it’s running. Just download this app and you’ll have the much-coveted ICS gallery in minutes.

Get the same hot features that ICS users are enjoying with the Gallery ICS app. You can edit and touch up your pictures right after you take them with the built-in photo editor. Options available to users include Crop, Straighten, Flip, Rotate, among others.
Photo enthusiasts will be having the time of day with photo effects and filters, among which are Fisheye, Sepia, Lomo-ish, Grain, and Posterize. You can also reduce red eye, adjust the exposure, and play with the colors.
Users are even saying that the Gallery ICS app works better than the stock Gallery on their Ice Cream Sandwich. After you’ve applied the needed edits to your photo, you can easily share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter or send it as an email attachment.

While users report just a couple of bugs in the app, such as setting the wallpaper onto the homescreen, the developers of the Gallery ICS app are working on compatibility issues and trying to get this app running on as many Android devices possible.
The app is free but for those who would like to get the whole ICS photo capturing and editing experience for a minimal fee or donation, you can get the Camera ICS+ app that puts the stock ICS Camera app packed with features (video recording, panorama, etc.) from the same developers.
Surely, a little support will go a long way in helping these developers’ efforts to bring a smooth, enjoyable mobile photo storage and editing experience for all. If you’re a photo junkie, getting the Gallery ICS app is a worthy endeavor. Download the Gallery ICS app from the Google Play Store for free.
What other apps do you know of that will replicate and bring the Ice Cream Sandwich experience to owners of earlier Android devices?

How To Root HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE Having ICS

How To Root HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE Having ICS

 http://www.zenilshroff.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/HTC-Sensation-XE.jpg

The smartphones from the Taiwanese manufacturer do not come with a lot of internal memory and you might want to remove some of the system apps. Moreover, you might also like to customize your phone to make it stand out in the crowd. For this you need root access to the Sensation XE. If you have rooted your phone already, it won’t be able to get root access after having updated your phone with Ice Cream sandwich. Before rooting, you need to unlock your bootloader which can be done using the step by step method given in HTC Dev website. Also, your phone should have Clockworkmod recovery installed.
Though there is very less chance of losing all the data, you should back up all the apps using ASTRO File Manager. Back up all contacts to SD card, SMS on Android and call log on Android. Your phone should have at least 60 percent battery.

Steps to Root the HTC Sensation XE on Ice Cream Sandwich:

  1. Download Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip.
  2. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable and copy the downloaded zip file to the root of your SD card.
  3. Boot into ClockworkMod recovery mode and go to install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card.
  4. Select the zip file that you copied to your SD card.
  5. Confirm it in the next screen and flash it.
You have successfully rooted your Sensation XE. Sometimes the flashing might not root your phone at once so you may need to repeat it 2-3 times.

Please Note:
Above mentioned procedure is tested and works perfectly fine, owners should use this procedure at their own risk.

ViewSonic Teases 22-Inch

If you thought Toshiba’s 13-inch AT330 was huge, wait until you get a load of this. ViewSonic just issued a teaser image containing what could eventually be the largest Android tablet on the face of the earth. I say eventually because at this point it’s just a prototype but if it ever makes it to production this won’t be the tablet you so effortlessly lug around in your backpack every day. As part of ViewSonic’s “Touch and Connect” series prototypes, this 22-inch “smart business tablet monitor” runs Android ICS, but will also be offered in a less appealing Windows 8 version.

Set to debut on June 5th at Computex in Taipei, this behemoth of a tablet is said to be unveiled alongside a few other tablet monitors, a new cloud storage solution, and other high-tech ViewSonic gadgets. No pricing or availability has been suggested although you can expect more details in the coming weeks.

The Corning booth will also explore the benefits of Corning Gorilla Glass in larger format, touch displays for education, entertainment, auto, and home appliance applications featuring new design possibilities. These include:
An 82-inch advanced multi-touch LCD display prototype featuring Corning Gorilla Glass as a durable, touch-sensitive, and elegant cover glass.
Touch-enabled automobile interior and home appliance center simulators demonstrating the enhanced user interface experience that thin, durable glass can enable in new design applications.
A centerpiece, Gorilla Glass-covered video wall, flanked by Gorilla Glass fabricated sound speakers, projecting the latest in Corning specialty glass technology news.
