Ice Cream Sandwich [ ICS ] Gallery app for non-ICS Android devices

Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Gallery app for non-ICS Android devices

ICS Gallery

The release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was met with a lot of rave reviews, as a slew of new, exciting features were made available to the Android public. In the days following the release, an Ice Cream Sandwich statue was unveiled, fans rushed to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and phone manufacturers stumbled to dish out the latest Android mobile OS to previously released handsets.
But, the whole buzz has left several few out in the cold–those who, for one reason or another, will just have to miss out on the latest software update.   I’m talking about Android users who own mobile devices released a few years back. Although your phone manufacturer has forever condemned you to stay in the Android Stone Age, talented developers have come to your rescue by cooking up apps, hacks, and fixes that will let you get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Check out the Gallery ICS app. It takes the ICS stock gallery app to your Android device, no matter what version of Android OS it’s running. Just download this app and you’ll have the much-coveted ICS gallery in minutes.

Get the same hot features that ICS users are enjoying with the Gallery ICS app. You can edit and touch up your pictures right after you take them with the built-in photo editor. Options available to users include Crop, Straighten, Flip, Rotate, among others.
Photo enthusiasts will be having the time of day with photo effects and filters, among which are Fisheye, Sepia, Lomo-ish, Grain, and Posterize. You can also reduce red eye, adjust the exposure, and play with the colors.
Users are even saying that the Gallery ICS app works better than the stock Gallery on their Ice Cream Sandwich. After you’ve applied the needed edits to your photo, you can easily share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter or send it as an email attachment.

While users report just a couple of bugs in the app, such as setting the wallpaper onto the homescreen, the developers of the Gallery ICS app are working on compatibility issues and trying to get this app running on as many Android devices possible.
The app is free but for those who would like to get the whole ICS photo capturing and editing experience for a minimal fee or donation, you can get the Camera ICS+ app that puts the stock ICS Camera app packed with features (video recording, panorama, etc.) from the same developers.
Surely, a little support will go a long way in helping these developers’ efforts to bring a smooth, enjoyable mobile photo storage and editing experience for all. If you’re a photo junkie, getting the Gallery ICS app is a worthy endeavor. Download the Gallery ICS app from the Google Play Store for free.
What other apps do you know of that will replicate and bring the Ice Cream Sandwich experience to owners of earlier Android devices?

How To Root HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE Having ICS

How To Root HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE Having ICS

 http://www.zenilshroff.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/HTC-Sensation-XE.jpg

The smartphones from the Taiwanese manufacturer do not come with a lot of internal memory and you might want to remove some of the system apps. Moreover, you might also like to customize your phone to make it stand out in the crowd. For this you need root access to the Sensation XE. If you have rooted your phone already, it won’t be able to get root access after having updated your phone with Ice Cream sandwich. Before rooting, you need to unlock your bootloader which can be done using the step by step method given in HTC Dev website. Also, your phone should have Clockworkmod recovery installed.
Though there is very less chance of losing all the data, you should back up all the apps using ASTRO File Manager. Back up all contacts to SD card, SMS on Android and call log on Android. Your phone should have at least 60 percent battery.

Steps to Root the HTC Sensation XE on Ice Cream Sandwich:

  1. Download Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip.
  2. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable and copy the downloaded zip file to the root of your SD card.
  3. Boot into ClockworkMod recovery mode and go to install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card.
  4. Select the zip file that you copied to your SD card.
  5. Confirm it in the next screen and flash it.
You have successfully rooted your Sensation XE. Sometimes the flashing might not root your phone at once so you may need to repeat it 2-3 times.

Please Note:
Above mentioned procedure is tested and works perfectly fine, owners should use this procedure at their own risk.

ViewSonic Teases 22-Inch ‘Smart Business Tablet Monitor

ViewSonic Teases 22-Inch

If you thought Toshiba’s 13-inch AT330 was huge, wait until you get a load of this. ViewSonic just issued a teaser image containing what could eventually be the largest Android tablet on the face of the earth. I say eventually because at this point it’s just a prototype but if it ever makes it to production this won’t be the tablet you so effortlessly lug around in your backpack every day. As part of ViewSonic’s “Touch and Connect” series prototypes, this 22-inch “smart business tablet monitor” runs Android ICS, but will also be offered in a less appealing Windows 8 version.

Set to debut on June 5th at Computex in Taipei, this behemoth of a tablet is said to be unveiled alongside a few other tablet monitors, a new cloud storage solution, and other high-tech ViewSonic gadgets. No pricing or availability has been suggested although you can expect more details in the coming weeks.

Corning Set To Show Off Gorilla Glass 2 At CES 2012

The makers of the best scratch-resistant material around are set for an encore. Corning, the developers of Gorilla Glass, will be at CES 2012 next week to highlight its newest creation– Gorilla Glass 2. It looks like Corning is set to have one heck of a follow-up too. Here are their own words:
“Corning Gorilla Glass has been a tremendous success for Corning, enjoying excellent market acceptance across mobile device industries. Handset and tablet device manufacturers are clearly driving toward higher functionality from thinner designs. Corning’s latest innovation in Gorilla Glass technology is very well positioned to meet these challenges and enable broader touch technology penetration”.
Looks like we have a lot to look forward to from Corning. Considering we’ve seen the first Gorilla Glass withstand even the harshest of scenarios, it’s safe to say that Corning is ready to take us for a wilder ride with Gorilla Glass 2, which Talk Android will be at front and center. Hit the break to see the full press release.

Consumer Electronics Design at CES 2012
New Corning® Gorilla® Glass 2 to be introduced
CORNING, N.Y., January 05, 2012 – Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced its plans for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week. The Corning booth, #12642 Central Hall, will showcase the critical role of highly engineered specialty glass in addressing emerging trends highlighted at CES 2012, including: increased functionality from smaller form factors; touch technology; connected devices in new application spaces; and sleek, durable large-format design aesthetics.
A key feature of Corning’s CES exposure will be the introduction of Corning® Gorilla® Glass 2, the next generation of the popular, damage-resistant cover glass for consumer electronic devices.
“Corning Gorilla Glass has been a tremendous success for Corning, enjoying excellent market acceptance across mobile device industries. Handset and tablet device manufacturers are clearly driving toward higher functionality from thinner designs. Corning’s latest innovation in Gorilla Glass technology is very well positioned to meet these challenges and enable broader touch technology penetration,” said James R. Steiner, senior vice president and general manager, Corning Specialty Materials. Product details will be included in an announcement planned for Monday, Jan. 9.
CES attendees can engage with Corning experts and technologies featuring the latest applications and benefits of Corning Gorilla Glass innovations. “As we did last year, we’ll provide consumers and customers visiting the Corning booth the opportunity to test first-hand the outstanding damage resistance and flexibility of this industry-leading, ultra-thin, and tough specialty glass,” Steiner added.
Corning Gorilla Glass, the technology that made Corning one of the most talked-about companies at CES 2011, is currently featured on more than 30 major brands and designed into more than 575 product models, spanning more than 500 million units worldwide.
The Corning booth will also explore the benefits of Corning Gorilla Glass in larger format, touch displays for education, entertainment, auto, and home appliance applications featuring new design possibilities. These include:
An 82-inch advanced multi-touch LCD display prototype featuring Corning Gorilla Glass as a durable, touch-sensitive, and elegant cover glass.
Touch-enabled automobile interior and home appliance center simulators demonstrating the enhanced user interface experience that thin, durable glass can enable in new design applications.
A centerpiece, Gorilla Glass-covered video wall, flanked by Gorilla Glass fabricated sound speakers, projecting the latest in Corning specialty glass technology news.
Additionally, Dr. Peter Bocko, Corning’s chief technology officer for Corning Glass Technologies and one of the foremost glass experts in the display industry, will be a panelist in the “Beyond the Flat Screen” session on Thursday, Jan. 12, 1:30 p.m. PST. He will discuss the latest advances in screen resolution, viewing angle, sunlight performance, and power consumption in an effort to isolate new products and opportunities.

Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-i9300) TV Commercial

Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-i9300) TV Commercial

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been released. It has quite a lot good features:
1.9 Megapixel Front Camera
8 Megapixel Rear Camera
4.8 Inches
720 x 1280 Resolution at 306ppi
720p Video (Front Camera) 1080p Video (Back Camera)
1.4GHZ EXYNOS 4 CORTEX-A9 QUAD-CORE CHIPS
1GB RAM
16, 32 OR 64GB
- Smart Stay, which uses the forward-facing camera to determine if you're looking at the phone. You can set time intervals from as little as 15 seconds, which result in a small flashing eye logo in the Android notification bar. If it recognises that your eyes aren't focused on the phone anymore, the screen dims.
- Direct Call, which will auto-dial a contact if you have their contact details or a message open. By moving the phone to your ear, the proximity sensor; accelerometer and gyroscope all kick into use, and automatically dial the contact's number.
- Smart Alert, which will make the phone vibrate in your hand and flash an LED if you pick the phone up after a missed call.
- S Voice, which is a Siri-like voice recognition feature, that you can use to enquire about the weather; take a photo ("Hi Galaxy, please take a photo" to open the camera app, or "cheese" to snap it), and other tasks such as locking the phone, or controlling music. Each demand can be configured by the user.
- Social Tag, which links photos of friends in your photo gallery to their Facebook or Google+ accounts, using facial recognition.
- S Beam, which pairs other Galaxy S III phones (and only them, for now) via NFC, shares photos, videos, files or even albums of media over Wi-Fi. If your friend's S III doesn't have Wi-Fi enabled, S Beam will automatically turn that user's Wi-Fi on, and then off.
- AllShare Cast, which pairs to TVs, laptops or tablets over Wi-Fi, mirroring whatever's on the S III. You can also use the S III as a game controller.
- PopUp Play, which will literally pop a video out of its player, rendering it in a small thumbnail so you can continue watching while surfing the web or doing other functions on the phone. The thumbnail is movable around the display, even if it's pretty small.

Galaxy S III Gets Abused and Doesn't Flinch Video

Galaxy S III Gets Abused and Doesn't Flinch ????

Galaxy S III

Ever wondered how the Galaxy S III would fare in a scratch test? Well thanks to Android Caotic and a dude named Paul from Samsung Italy, we now have a video showing the device being abused (sort of). The video is supposed to be a demonstration of a scratch test but as you will see the guy uses the round metal plug from a European phone charger. While I wouldn’t try this test with any of my devices, when I think of a scratch test I think of some dude using a key to repeatedly scratch a device’s screen. Either way, this is decent proof that the Gorilla Glass 2 screen on the GSIII can handle some unwanted abuse. Oh, and they also show how the polycarbonate back plate can be nearly bent in half repeatedly without any damage. I imagine the earlier rumored ceramic coating would’t have fared so well. The device may be plastic but at least you know it won’t shatter like an iPhone! Jump past the break to check out the video.
